Some policemen allegedly caught with a bribe of N500,000 in Anambra State have been arrested. The cops, whose identities could not be ascertained as of press time, were arrested following a petition by the victim. The Police Public Police Relations Officer in the state, Ikenga Tochukwu, who confirmed the development, said the Commissioner of Police, Monday Kuryas, expressed zero-tolerance for extortion in the command. The PPRO stated, The Commissioner of Police, Monday Kuryas, has expressed total aversion to unprofessionalism and other extortionist tendencies among some police personnel in the command. The CP made this known following a petition alleging the extortion of the sum of N500,000 from a citizen by some men of the command. Investigations ordered by the CP into the case led to the swift identification and arrest of the personnel involved.
