Suspect who absconded from police custody for killing father in Imo, rearrested

The Imo State Police Command has rearrested a murder suspect, Miracle Ajogu, who fled from the command’s custody when gunmen on the early hours of Monday attacked the police command headquarters, razed part of it and burnt over 50 vehicles. The attackers also invaded the Owerri Correctional Centre and freed 1,884 inmates and told them to go ” Jesus has risen. You have reason to be here again.” They equally attacked a military base at Umuorji on Owerri- Onitsha expressway, burnt one soldier in a car and set ablaze four operational vehicles belonging to the military. A source said : The police have rearrested one Miracle Ajogu of Onusa Nkwerre in Nkwerre LGA of Imo State. He murdered his father and was subsequently arrested. The case was transferred to the command’s headquarters in Owerri by the Division. He was among the suspects that escaped from the state Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri on Monday when the hoodlums attacked the headquarters of the police in Imo State.
